AlphaTheta’s music production controller SLAB wins Red Dot: Best of the Best 2026

AlphaTheta Corporation is excited to announce that its music production controller SLAB has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best prize in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026, one of the world’s 3 major design awards.
This marks the second consecutive year AlphaTheta has received the Best of the Best award. SLAB is the company’s third product to earn this highest distinction, following the DDJ-REV7 in 2022 and the OMNIS-DUO in 2025. SLAB has also been honored with the iF Design Award 2026, further proving its outstanding design.
Among DJs, there’s a growing interest in music production as a way to expand creative expression. But conventional digital audio workstations (DAWs) and production-oriented controllers are often overly complicated for beginners to use. SLAB makes it easy to start making music and develop production skills with its intuitive interface – made for native use of the Serato Studio DAW – and its compact, highly portable design, which have been highly praised by both the Red Dot: Best of the Best jury and the iF Design Award 2026.
About the award-winning SLAB
SLAB is the first dedicated controller optimized for Serato Studio, a software platform that enables DJs to easily create music. It features a familiar circular play button, grouped controls inspired by professional DJ equipment, and pad illumination that synchronizes with the software, delivering an intuitive and approachable experience that’s tailored for DJs.
SLAB also features a slim lightweight body – roughly the size of a laptop – enabling flexible placement in a setup with a computer that’s connected via the included cable. It’s designed to support comfortable music production in all kinds of settings, such as cafés and other on-the-go environments.

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the largest design competitions in the world and is announced annually by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen. To properly assess the merit of design of products and projects from diverse fields, the Red Dot Design Award is divided into 3 categories: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept. Each competition runs once a year.
