AlphaTheta’s KUVO partners with the International Nightlife Association

Collaboration aims to bring accurate music reporting and insights to nightclubs worldwide and support fair royalties

KUVO, AlphaTheta’s global platform for music recognition and data services, has entered a landmark partnership with the International Nightlife Association (INA), the worldwide nightclub trade body whose member associations represent over 15,000 venues. The INA will help connect KUVO with clubs across its network, providing more venues with access to tools that identify music played, and turn that data into accurate reporting for organizations that collect and pay music royalties.

KUVO technology works discreetly in the background at venues and DJ events, giving proprietors insight into the music being played, as well as exclusive AlphaTheta benefits. It also enables more accurate royalty payments to artists, helping DJs to support music creators simply by playing their tracks.

Previously known as KUVO powered by DJ Monitor, KUVO is moving forward under its standalone name following the recent acquisition of DJ Monitor’s market-leading music recognition technology. The newly consolidated KUVO service brings together trusted technologies, customer relationships, and collective industry expertise to strengthen and expand the platform’s capabilities. With an overall music recognition rate of over 92% and a reference library of 200 million+ tracks, KUVO offers unique capabilities for identifying music. The platform is now in use at over 160 venue rooms across the UK, Ibiza, the Netherlands, and Australia, including renowned clubs such as Hï Ibiza, [UNVRS], Pacha Ibiza, Ministry of Sound, Paradiso, The Warehouse Project, Ivy, and Carousel.

Through this new partnership, KUVO and the INA aim to bring automated music reporting solutions to clubs and DJ events worldwide, helping the music rights industry work toward more accurate royalty payments to creators and rightsholders.

Speaking about the new partnership, Joaquim Boadas de Quintana, President of the INA, said:

“We are very pleased to partner with KUVO and AlphaTheta on an initiative that addresses a key challenge for the nightlife and music industries: ensuring that music usage is accurately identified and that creators and rightsholders are fairly recognized and compensated. At the International Nightlife Association, we believe technology and cooperation are essential to building a more professional and sustainable nightlife sector. Music Recognition Technology (MRT) is already a mandatory requirement for venues seeking the International Nightlife Acoustic Quality (INAQ) distinction within our Triple Excellence in Nightlife distinction, and this collaboration will help further support the adoption of reliable music recognition and reporting solutions across our international network. We see this as an important step in strengthening the connection between venues, artists, music companies and rightsholders, while promoting greater transparency throughout the nightlife ecosystem.”

Nygel Hiralall, General Manager of AlphaTheta KUVO Technology added:

“We see a future where music recognition technology is a standard part of the infrastructure of clubs and DJ events worldwide. Our partnership with the International Nightlife Association is an important step towards that future, helping us bring KUVO to more venues and demonstrate the value of accurate music reporting and insights. Wider adoption will help support fairer royalty outcomes for the creators whose work drives dancefloor culture. This is an exciting moment for KUVO, and we encourage venues to connect with us and explore how the service can support their business.”

About the International Nightlife Association (INA)

The International Nightlife Association (INA) was founded in 2012 in Barcelona, Spain, and is the first organization in the world created specifically to represent the main stakeholders in the nightlife economy, including restaurants, bars, clubs, discos, lounges, hotels and other businesses connected to the nightlife sector. The INA brings together national and regional nightlife associations from around the world, supporting cooperation, professionalization, innovation, sustainability, safety and the recognition of nightlife as an important part of the cultural, tourism and economic ecosystem. Through its international network, the INA works to promote responsible and sustainable nightlife, strengthen relationships between industry stakeholders and public authorities, and develop initiatives that benefit nightlife businesses, professionals, artists and communities. The association also organizes international industry events, including the International Nightlife Congress and the Golden Moon Awards™, as well as initiatives such as the list of The World’s 100 Best Clubs™, the Gold Distinction, and the Triple Excellence in Nightlife distinction, which recognizes venues for their commitment to safety, acoustics and sustainability. Through its member associations and industry partnerships, the INA facilitates the exchange of knowledge, best practices, technology and business opportunities across the global nightlife sector. As part of the INA’s Triple Excellence in Nightlife Distinction, the implementation of a Music Recognition Technology (MRT) system is a mandatory requirement for venues seeking the International Nightlife Acoustic Quality (INAQ) distinction. This requirement supports more accurate music identification and reporting, helping strengthen transparency and promote fairer royalty outcomes for artists, producers and rightsholders.
